Associations & Non-Profits
Hope Services was founded in 1952 by a group of parents in San Jose, California, who were determined to create better opportunities for their children with developmental disabilities. At a time when options for individuals with disabilities were extremely limited, these parents came together to establish a supportive community that would provide education, training, and meaningful engagement. What started as a small grassroots effort soon grew into a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Over the decades, Hope Services expanded its reach, evolving into the largest nonprofit provider of services for individuals with I/DD in the Bay Area. The organization now serves thousands of clients across multiple counties, offering a comprehensive range of programs, including employment services, mental health support, early intervention, independent living assistance, and social and recreational activities.
Through its commitment to inclusion, dignity, and opportunity, Hope Services continues to build on its founders’ vision, helping individuals with disabilities lead fulfilling lives as part of their communities
